The bride’s family got upset by the behaviour of Mahto’s family and approached the police. “Most of the rituals were completed. Only the exchange of garlands was left. The two families had an argument over an alleged shortage of food, following which the groom’s side refused to go ahead with the wedding,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Alok Kumar said as reported by NDTV.
Kumari reportedly told the police that Mahto was ready to marry her but his family did not agree. The groom’s family was called to the police station. After the intervention of the police, the groom’s family agreed to continue the wedding.
As per Kumar, after the bride expressed concerns over a possibility of a fight if both families return to the marriage hall, the police allowed them to complete the rituals in the police station only.
