The role and historical journey of Shubhanshu Shukla

Subhanshu Shukla’s Space Flight is an important step for Indian space travel. He has also been selected to be part of the “Gaganyaan” mission of Indian space agency ISRO. Gaganyaan Mission is India’s first manned space mission, with one to three astronauts in the lower orbit of the Earth. Prior to the Gaganyaan Mission, Shukla’s visit to Axiom Mission 4 will prove to be an important experience.

Apart from Shukla, former NASA astronaut Paigi Whitson will also be part of the mission as Mission Commander, and Slavos Uznansky-Vicenivsky of Poland and Hungary’s Tibor Kapu will also be part of the mission.

Prashant Balakrishnan Nair appointed backup astronaut

India has also appointed Group Captain Prashant Balakrishnan Nair as the backup astronaut of Subhanshu Shukla. But if for some reason, Shubhanshu is unable to go on the mission, then Nair will reach the ISS in his place. Along with this, this back-up plan is a common process in space missions to be prepared for any unexpected situation.
