Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Ram Navami was celebrated with fervor in the city on Sunday. Temples were decorated and processions were taken out to mark the occasion. Special worship, mass feast were organised in Talaiya’s Shri Ram Temple, Birla Temple, BHEL’s Ram Temple, Anand Nagar’s Ram Temple and other temples.

Shri Ram Janmotsav maha aarti was held at Shri Ram Temple in Talaiya. A grand procession was taken out from Ghodha Nakkas Square in the old city, which passed through Maa Karma Devi Road, Chhote Bhaiya Corner, Jumerati Gate, Loha Bazaar, Subhash Chowk, Lakhera Pura. It ended at Bhawani Chowk Somwara.

The procession included presentation of Hanuman Chalisa, an idol of Ram Lala, 101 saffron flags, drums, band, duldul ghori and religious tableaux. Ram Navami celebrations were also held at Hanuman Mandir located in New Market. A procession was taken out from Jawahar Chawk to Ravindra Bhawan.

Akhand Ramayana and Janmotsav were celebrated at Shri Siddha Rudreshwar Hanuman Temple, Shirdipuram in Kolar. The procession began from Signature Residency. It ended with maha aarti. Nagar bhoj was organised in which artistes from Vrindavan gave cultural performances.

Kanya bhoj was organised at Mama Ka Ghar – the residence of union minister Shirvaj Singh Chouhan in the city on Sunday. “My wife Sadhana Singh and I have been organising kanya bhoj on the ninth day of Navratri for years but today I am very satisfied that Kartikeya, Kunal, Amanat and Riddhi, both sons and daughters-in-law have carried forward this family tradition and organised kanya bhoj,” Chauhan said.

He added, “Our culture is amazing. It is the duty of all of us to promote it and follow it. I am filled with joy that the children are also carrying forward this tradition.”
