Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The government plans to promote animal husbandry, fish farming and tourism by supporting tribal home stays in key tourist destinations such as Maheshwar, Omkareshwar, Mandu, and Bagh, said tribal affairs minister Vijay Shah here on Thursday.
This initiative aimed to create sustainable livelihoods for the tribal community while preserving their culture and traditions, he said.
“Financial assistance will be provided to tribal families for setting up home stays, developing community fish ponds and improving cattle farming infrastructure,” the minister. While addressing a review meeting on Dharti Aaba – Janjati Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA) and other tribal welfare schemes, he emphasised the need to provide modern facilities such as roads, electricity, schools, healthcare and concrete houses while preserving tribal heritage, language and customs. He highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Dharti Aaba Yojana on October 2, 2024, aiming for 100 per cent implementation of 25 welfare schemes in 11,377 tribal villages across Madhya Pradesh.
Other key initiatives discussed included enhancing agricultural income to Rs 4 lakh per hectare annually, setting up seed banks, eradicating sickle cell disease, expanding solar energy use and improving education and hostels for tribal students.
