Indore (Madhya Pradesh): All private hospitals across the state are now required to display a detailed fee list for treatments and investigations at their counters, as mandated by new government guidelines.
The government has also directed the hospitals to provide the list to the patients or their families on their request. Private hospitals and nursing homes must also inform the Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) in writing about any changes to fees and update the displayed list accordingly.
Health and medical education commissioner Tarun Rathi announced these regulations, emphasising the need for transparency in healthcare to protect public interests.
The move aims to prevent arbitrary fee hikes and ensure patients have access to clear and fair pricing for medical services. “Charging fees beyond the displayed rates will be considered a violation of the rules. The hospital management is responsible for adhering to these guidelines, with continuous inspections planned to monitor compliance,” CMHO Dr BS Saitya said.
The government has taken the initiative to promote accountability and fairness in private healthcare while strengthening trust between healthcare providers and the public. “By ensuring accessible and transparent pricing, the government hopes to make quality medical care more equitable across the state,” the CMHO added.
