Whenever there is talk of comedy films in Bollywood, Govinda’s name is definitely taken. His brilliant comic timing has given many hit films. But do you know that one of his films ‘Banda Ye Bindas Hai’ could never be released?

The shooting of this film was almost complete, but a big Hollywood studio filed a case on it, causing a loss of crores.

Another Global T20 League will start soon, Saudi Arabia will make mega investment!

Why did Hollywood case on Govinda’s film?

According to reports, Lara Dutta and Tabu were cast with Govinda in ‘Banda Ye Bindas Hai’.

The director of the film was late Ravi Chopra.
But this film never reached theaters.

The reason for this was the Hollywood film ‘My Cousin Vinny’ (1992), whose makers filed a case of copyright violation on it.

20th century Fox filed case!

20th century Fox (now part of Disney) alleged that ‘Banda Ye Bindas Hai’ is the unofficial remake of his film ‘My Cousin Vinny’.
In this case, a compensation of US $ 1.4 million (about Rs 12 crore) was sought.
The film could never be released due to this controversy.

According to reports, this was the first time Hollywood dragged an Indian film maker in court.

Loss of crores and film canned

The film’s producers settled the case for US $ 2 lakh (about Rs 1.73 crore).
The film was not released even after the court case was over.
After the death of director Ravi Chopra in 2014, there was no attempt to release it again.

Can this film still be released?

The shooting of ‘Banda Ye Bindas Hai’ was almost complete, but till now no plan has been made to release it again.
If producers want, you can release it on OTT, but for this legal approval from Disney will be necessary.
