Mumbai: Governor of Maharashtra CP Radhakrishnan conferred the 19th Mohammad Rafi Awards at a function organised by minister for culture Ashish Shelar at the Rangsharada Auditorium in Bandra on Tuesday under the banner of Spandan Arts.
One of the most popular and leading lyricists in Bollywood during the 1950s and 1960s, Majrooh Sultanpuri was posthumously conferred the Mohammad Rafi Lifetime Achievement Award 2024 while playback singer Javed Ali was conferred with the Mohammad Rafi Award 2024.
Andaleeb Majrooh Sultanpuri, son of Majrooh Sultanpuri, accepted the posthumous lifetime achievement award comprising a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, a memento and shawl-shrifal on his behalf.
Javed Ali received the Mohammad Rafi Award comprising cash prize of Rs 51,000 and a memento. On this occasion, a live musical concert titled ‘Jeevan Gani’ was presented by Shrikant Narayan.
