According to sources, the Ministry of Aviation is preparing a proposal to privatize 11 airports. These airports include Amritsar, Varanasi, Bhubaneswar, Indore, Raipur, Trichy, Kushinagar, Gaya, Hubli, Aurangabad and Tirupati. The government will bid on these airports, which includes both profitable and non-profitable airports. This step is being taken under the plan to lease private companies under the PPP model (PPP) under the National Monettion Pipeline (NMP) 2.0.
Fraud of the previous steps and proposal
The central government had already prepared a proposal to lease 25 airports in a period of 2022-2025 under NMP. Among these 25 airports, Bhubaneswar, Varanasi, Amritsar, Trichy, Indore, Raipur, Calicut, Coimbatore, Nagpur, Patna, Madurai, Surat, Ranchi, Jodhpur, Chennai, Vijayawada, Vadodara, Bhopal, Tirupati, Hubli, Infal, Agartala, Udaipur, Dehradun and Rajmundari are included.

The government believes that leasing private companies to airports will improve management, which will increase infrastructure and facilities. Affected companies
This news is expected to benefit companies like Adani Airports and GMR Airports. Currently, GMR Airports shares are traded at about Rs 69.55 on NSE, which has seen a slight decline. The high level of the day was Rs 71.90 and a low level was Rs 68.67, and the trading volume is about 7.15 million shares. The company’s market cap is around Rs 73,416 crore.
Similarly, the shares of Adani Airports are also trading at around Rs 1,076 with a slight decline in today’s session, with a decrease of Rs 6.50. The trading volume was around 1,025,748 shares.
The move for privatization is expecting significant improvement in the direction of better management and development of airports, which will provide advanced facilities to the passengers.
