United Nations: India’s efforts to prevent child mortality are exemplary, a report released on Tuesday by the United Nations Inter-agency group to assess the United Nations organization said that not only India’s efforts to stop child mortality are exemplary, but Nepal, Senegal, Ghana and Burundi are also able to reduce child mortality by making many schemes. This is the lowest rate in India in the survey.

The report said that India has reduced the mortality rate of children below five years of age by 70 percent. However, infant mortality has decreased by 61 percent.

The report clearly states that the decrease in child mortality in India is due to the Ayushman Bharat scheme implemented by the Government of India. Under this scheme, every family is provided assistance of up to $ 5,500 (Rs 50,000) per year. The report said that free delivery including Caesarean for pregnant women has also been included in it. Such exemplary arrangements have been made.

The report further states that child mortality is also increasing in low-medium income countries. It has decreased by the year 2000. These countries are: Senegal, Bhutan, Bolivia, Cape Varde, India, Morocco, Senegal, Tanzania and Jambia. These countries have reduced child mortality by two-thirds since 2000.
