South African fast bowler Marco Jensen broke the back of the Sri Lankan team and took seven wickets and dismissed the visiting team for just 42 runs. Jensen showed the way to the pavilion by giving away 13 runs to seven Sri Lankan bowlers. In contrast to their performance, Sri Lanka were bowled out for their lowest score in Tests. He was bought by Punjab Kings in the recently concluded mega auction for Rs. Signed at a cost of Rs 7 crore.

Jensen’s performance was the best of his career

There was an exciting battle between Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans to include him in their team, but in the end the Punjab team won. Jensen performed strongly against Sri Lanka, taking 7 wickets for 13 runs in just 6.5 overs, which is also the best performance of his career. His lethal balls proved to be a nightmare for the Sri Lankan batsmen, where many batsmen could not even open their account. Jensen’s fast ball took full advantage of the bounce and movement provided by the pitch, due to which the Sri Lankan team fell behind Kingsmead.

Sri Lankan team could play only 83 balls

The brilliant performance of the Proteas bowlers can be gauged from the fact that Sri Lanka’s innings lasted only 83 balls. This innings is also the second shortest innings in Test history. Sri Lanka’s score of 42 was not only their lowest score in Test cricket, but also their lowest ever score at Kingsmead. One of the reasons for Sri Lanka being out on this score was poor shot selection by the batsmen and constant pressure from the South African bowlers.

Punjab Kings will be happy with Jensen’s performance

The batsmen whom Jensen made his victims included the wickets of important players like Dhananjay de Silva and Kamindu Mendis. Jensen bowled out the tail-enders with accuracy where there was no break in Jensen’s delivery. This week was a lot of change for him. Punjab Kings will also be very excited after his performance.
