Mumbai: A shocking incident has emerged from the Gorai area, where a man allegedly attacked a woman over a dispute regarding her sitting on a chair in the street and later set her house on fire in a fit of rage. The police have arrested the accused, identified as Vishal Udamale, alias “Jangli,” who is reportedly known for hooliganism in the area.
According to police sources, the complainant, Laxmi Prabhakar Bontala (34), was sitting on a chair in Gali No. 5 of Bhim Nagar at around 11 AM on March 31 when an argument broke out with the accused. He allegedly verbally abused and threatened her, and the situation escalated when he attacked her with a stone.
On April 1, still enraged, the accused allegedly poured petrol on the locked door of the complainant’s house and set it ablaze. During the act, he also reportedly threatened nearby residents. Following the incident, the woman lodged a complaint, prompting the police to register a case under BNS sections 79, 351(2), 115(2), 326(G), and 131.
The accused was arrested, and further investigations revealed that multiple cases were already registered against him in different police stations. The investigation into the matter is ongoing.
