Meerut (Uttar Pradesh), May 13: In a shocking incident, a major controversy has broken out after student union president Shubham Malik was brutally beaten inside Chaudhary Charan Singh University (CCSU) campus in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut on Monday (May 12). The attack happened in front of the security personnel and the other students. The incident was recorded by an onlooker and the video of the incident is doing rounds on social media. It can be seen in the video that goons are beating the student union president.
The main accused in the attack has been identified as Siddharth Kasana who is a known local goon who reportedly claimed in the video that “Even the wind changes direction in front of me.” The incident has raised serious concerns over the law and order situation in the district. There are reports that Shubham was attacked with an iron rod due to which he suffered serious injuries to his head.

Shubham Malik was attacked with an iron rod and beaten up brutally. He suffered serious head injuries and is now in critical condition in the hospital. The shocking part is that the attack happened in the presence of university security staff, but no one stopped the attackers.
The video which went viral on social media shows Shubham being thrashed by Siddharth Kasana. He is seen in the video abusing and saying, “Hawa bhi mudkar chalti hai mere saamne.” (Even the wind changes direction in front of me.)
As the video surfaced on social media, the internet users started criticising the police. However, the police later clarified that the person who is seen in the viral video is not a police personnel, but the security guard of the university.
Police Reaction
After the incident, Meerut police registered a case of attempted murder. Two police teams have been formed to arrest the accused. The police also confirmed that CCTV footage and viral videos are being examined to identify others involved.
The police said, “A case of attempted murder has been registered in connection with the matter. Two teams have been deployed under the leadership of SP City for the arrest. The person seen in police uniform in the video is a security guard of the university. Action will be taken soon.”
The police have named Siddharth Kasana, Suchcha, Aditya Yadav and other unidentified people in the case. All of them are believed to be rivals of Shubham Malik in student politics and they have also clashed before.
The university campus is tense since the incident occurred. Students have protested demanding arrests and better security inside the university campus. Many students are blaming both the university administration and the police for failing to protect students. The university has assured full investigation and strict action against those involved.
