Hathras: Navigating unfamiliar routes on Google Maps can be dangerous sometimes. This may lead to accidents as it can be wrong sometimes. A similar incident of Google Map navigation leading to an accident has come to light from Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras. The car has been damaged in the accident, the driver and the passengers have reportedly suffered serious injuries in the incident.

A highway in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, has become a dangerous spot for accidents. In just three days, three major accidents have occurred, involving three cars. These accidents left three people badly injured, all of whom have been taken to the hospital for treatment. Surprisingly, even after these accidents, the authorities have not taken any action to improve safety.

How the Accidents Happened

Many travelers use Google Maps to navigate unfamiliar routes. Something similar happened near Hathras. Construction work was underway on a section of the Mathura-Bareilly Highway. However, there were no diversion signs or barriers to guide drivers. As a result, three cars met with accidents one after another.

The travelers were heading from Bareilly to Barsana in Mathura. Following Google Maps’ directions, their vehicle ended up on the under-construction highway. Unfortunately, the cars collided with barriers made of dirt placed on the road.

Google Maps’ Role in the Accidents

Reports suggest that Google Maps directed the cars onto the under-construction section of the highway. One driver, named Arvind Kumar, was seriously injured when his car hit the dirt barrier. Luckily, the other drivers sustained minor injuries.

Authorities Unresponsive

As per reports, despite repeated accidents at the same spot, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has not taken any steps to warn travelers. Even earlier, on December 28, two accidents were reported at this very location. However, no warning boards or barriers have been installed to alert people about the road closure, leading to repeated mishaps.

The incident has exposed the irresponsible behaviour of the authorities in the state over the safety of the commuters on roads. It has also highlighted the urgent need for better road management and communication to ensure the safety of travelers.
