Under this change, the company is preparing to provide more bonuses and stock options to high -performing employees, while the benefits of average or less performing employees will be limited.

According to a Business Insider report, John Casey, Vice President of Google’s Global Compensation and Benefits, informed the employees about this change via an email. Casey said that managers will now be able to give a ‘outstanding impact’ rating to a large number of employees, which is Google’s top performance category. This will provide better bonuses and stock grants to the top performers.
Medium performances will get less benefit
Google will implement this change without increasing the budget. Therefore, the company will reduce the salary growth of middle -class employees like “significant impact” and “moderate impact”. However, Casey clarified that the “significant impact” would still remain a good rating, but its economic value would be reduced beforehand.
Managers will get additional budget
In Google’s new system, managers will have a separate budget, so that they will also be able to give additional rewards to employees who perform well, but are unable to get the top rating. This will benefit every hardworking employee to perform well.
AI and changes keeping in mind the needs of Cloud sector
Google says that these changes are necessary because the company wants to move forward in rapidly developed areas such as AI (Artificial Intelligence) and Cloud Computing. The company needs employees who can perform high levels.
