Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Goods worth several lakhs of rupees were gutted when fire broke out at two commercial establishments at Karond and Hoshangabad Road during the last 24 hours. Short circuit in electric wiring is suspected to have triggered the fire, officials said.

According to reports, fire broke out at the office of Interior designer at Mansarovar Complex close to Rani Kamlapati Railway Station on Thursday morning. Locals spotted smoke coming out from the shop and raised an alarm.

President of Traders Association at Mansarovar Complex Anil Chugh said traders immediately took action and doused the fire using the fire extinguishers. A major incident was averted as the fire was contained soon by locals and fire-fighters, he added.

Meanwhile, another fire broke out at furniture shops in Karond area late Wednesday night. Fire erupted at one of the shops and soon engulfed eight adjacent shops.

Locals and traders immediately responded and saved the rest of the shops. However, furniture and other goods worth several lakhs of rupees in eight shops were completely gutted in the massive blaze. Nishatpura police said fire tenders reached the spot and it took three hours for fire fighters to contain the fire completely.
