Good news for central employees! 8th Pay Commission members announced till May

News India Live, Digital Desk: The central government has stepped up preparations for the 8th Pay Commission. According to government sources, the Pay Commission’s Work Terms (TOR) will be declared in the next two to three weeks. Along with this, the names of the Chairman and other members of the Commission will also be announced.

Preparation for general memorandum

A common memorandum will be prepared by central employees and pensioners before the formation of the 8th Pay Commission. The National Council-United Consultative Machinery (NC-JCM) has made this announcement. This memorandum will include demands and suggestions related to fitment factor, minimum wage, pay scale, allowances, advances and promotion.

A draft committee has been constituted to prepare this memorandum, which will be chaired by Shiv Gopal Mishra, General Secretary of the staff side of NC-JCM. The committee will have 13 members, which will be selected by recognized employee unions. The committee will hold a meeting in June and prepare a memorandum. The decision was taken at the staff meeting held in New Delhi recently.

The report will be ready within a year

The government will give at least one year time to this commission to prepare its report. During this time discussions will be held with the central and state governments, government companies and other concerned parties. After the report, the new salary and pension will be considered effective from 1 January 2026.

The pressure of spending on the government will increase

There was a significant increase in government expenditure during the implementation of the Seventh Pay Commission. In 2016-17, salary and pension increased by about 23.55%, resulting in an additional burden of about Rs 1.02 lakh crore on the government. This time also something similar can happen, which can make budget management challenging for the government.

More than 5 crore people will be benefited

About 50 lakh central employees and 65 lakh pensioners will benefit from the 8th Pay Commission. Apart from this, lakhs of employees of states and union territories will also get the benefit, because they usually adopt the decision of the center.

New pay structure

The Seventh Pay Commission introduced the new salary matrix, with the minimum salary of Rs 18,000 and the maximum salary was fixed at Rs 2.5 lakh per month. This time the 8th Pay Commission will decide the new fitment factor keeping in mind the inflation and price increase. Last time, the fitment factor of 2.57 was implemented.
