Director of Jamia’s Multi-Disciplinary Center for Advanced Research and Studies (MCARS) Prof. Mohammad Hussain said that in CAR T-cell therapy, the patient’s own T cells are genetically modified to target cancer cells, attack and destroy them.
B-cell lymphocytes produce antibodies, which help the immune system fight infection. In unusual conditions, it can change and take the form of cancer. T cells are a type of white blood cells.
It is part of the defense system. Fights any type of infection. According to Prof. Hussain, it is successful to modify T cells. When the patients suffering from blood cancer are changed, they can quickly destroy cancer cells.
