The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has made a good effort. CBSE has announced several reforms aimed at improving the education experience and in sync with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The board announced that if a student fails in any core subject like Science, Mathematics or Social Science in the 10th board exam, then that subject will be changed to 6th additional skill subject.
The objective of this initiative is to promote skill-based education while protecting students from failure in their weak subjects. The board has added 22 such subjects for classes 9 and 10 which give students an opportunity to develop vocational and technical skills apart from studies.
The new initiative of CBSE will reduce the fear of failure among students. CBSE said that the performance of the students will be done on the basis of best of five. That is, if a student fails in any one of Science, Mathematics or Social Science, then the percentage will be calculated by including the sixth additional skill subject in the marks.
