Good Friday has special significance in Christianity. On this day Lord Jesus Christ gave up his life. Originally, they merged into heaven in a very painful manner on the cross. However, this day is considered auspicious or good in Christianity. The reason behind this is the purpose of sacrifice of Lord Jesus Christ. God sacrificed his life for the salvation of mankind and freedom from sins, so this day is considered auspicious.
There is a difference of opinion on where the name Good Friday came from. Some people say that the word ‘Good’ has developed from ‘Gods Friday’, while others take it from a religious point of view. Because on this day the work of salvation of God was completed. Although Jesus’ disciples, family and followers could not understand it at that time, but when Jesus revived three days later, he understood the real importance of this day, that death and sin had conquered.
In the events of this day, Jesus’ disciple Judah told his enemies where to arrest him. Jesus was then arrested and brought to the Jewish Group, the General Assembly for the trial. He was made false allegations and was taken to Roman Governor Pilate to give him death penalty. Pilate, despite being innocent, ordered him to be crucified due to public pressure.
The Lord Jesus was wearing a crown of thorns and forced to lift the cross. He was eventually crucified in the middle. After six hours of pain, Jesus breathed his last, saying, “O father, I hand over my soul to your hands.” At the same time, darkness spread, the curtain of the temple exploded and the earth was shaken.
On this day, only humans are aware of their sins, their boundaries and sacrifices made for us by Jesus. Jesus gave us his life to sanctify and bring us closer to God. That is why Good Friday is considered a sad but auspicious day because our salvation was possible on the same day.
