New Delhi: Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar attended the Global Technology Summit (GTS) 2025 organized by Carnegie India on Friday. At this summit, he clearly presented his position on Indo-US relations, change in technology sector as well as US-China tension. Foreign Minister Dr. S. Indo-US trade agreement is moving rapidly

Jaishankar gave important information about the trade agreement between India and the US. He said, “We have started dialogue for bilateral trade agreement within a month of formation of a new government in America. We want an agreement that is long -term beneficial and successful for both countries.” On not getting the expected results in the previous talks, he said, “The process of negotiations continued for four years before that, but no concrete agreement could be reached. However, this time we are working with full seriousness and rapid. Now there is no question of prolonging the talks.”

Talking about the activism of the business team, he said, “This time we have got a big opportunity and we do not want to lose it. Our business team is very active and the pace of discussions is also very good. First we were told that the pace of discussions is slow, but now we are giving priority to pursue it.”

Europe’s status and technology influence

External Affairs Minister Jaishankar made an important comment, commenting on the changing situation in Europe. He said, “Europe was relatively stable and balanced five years ago. They had found a good solution with America, Russia and China, but now the situation has completely changed. Tension has increased in all three countries, which has also affected Europe.” He said that the technology sector has a major role in the difficult situation of Europe, “Sometimes when we take policy steps on various fronts, it has short-term benefits. But long term, its results can be complex and difficult.”

Big change in US policy

Highlighting the changing policies of America, Jaishankar said, “The US has now made a complete change in the way the world joined the world. Its results are being seen in all areas and it will be even more clear in the future.” Regarding the impact on the technology sector, he said, “These changes will have the most impact on the technology sector. It is not just whether America is the biggest economy or a pioneer in technology, but is because America is moving rapidly towards strengthening itself through technology.”

China’s rapid progress and global implications

Commenting on China’s technological advancement, Jaishankar said, “There have been major changes in America in the last one year and the world is focusing on it. Similarly, another change is happening slowly and that is China’s rapid technological advancement.”

Speaking about the upliftment of China, he said, “This is not a sudden change, but a gradual process. Business is associated with technology, and some big steps have been taken like ‘deep seik’. I think the changes made by China are serious like changes made by the United States, and have a major impact globally.”

The ideas presented by Jaishankar at the Global Technology Summit are considered very important in terms of global politics and technology.
