Mumbai: Amid the trend of ‘AI Ghibli Art’ on social media, Mumbai Cha Raja Mandal has requested citizens to remove posts featuring Lord Ganesha and other goddesses. This request was made in an Instagram story shared by the Mandal on Wednesday.
The trend, which has gone viral across platforms from WhatsApp stories to Instagram posts and stories, has sparked concern. The Mandal expressed that these pictures are an insult to Lord Ganesha.

“As we all know, the idols of the Raja and other deities in Mumbai are symbols of our devotion and faith. Images of deities hold sanctity. Currently, some people on social media are creating ‘Ghibli Art’ from photos of Bappa, which is inappropriate,” Mumbai Cha Raja Mandal said in the post.
The Mandal has requested users to refrain from creating ‘Ghibli Art’ of Bappa’s photos, and for those who have already done so, to remove them from social media. Such AI-generated art often carries sarcastic irony, which may inadvertently insult our own God. It is not appropriate to transform Bappa’s image in this manner.

Instead, the Mandal encourages everyone to express their faith and love for Bappa through original art, whether by hand or with digital software, rather than using AI apps. Additionally, they stated, “We look forward to your cooperation.”
