Dharam Veer Meena, General Manager, Central Railway felicitated 9 Central Railway staff i.e. 4 from Mumbai Division, 2 from Bhusaval Division, 1 each from Pune, Nagpur and Solapur Division with Safety Award in a function held at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Mumbai on 17.12.2024.

The awards were given in appreciation of their alertness during duty, their contribution in averting untoward incidents and ensuring safety in train operations during the previous months. The award consists of a medal, commendation certificate, a citation of exemplary safety work and cash of ₹ 2000/-.

Mumbai Division

1. Ranjeet Singh, Train Manager, CSMT was performing duty on Train no 10104, Mandovi express on 07.10.2024. The train was waiting for line clearance at Signal 61 when Singh, noticed a broken fish plate on Down Fast Line at Kms 1/146, He immediately showed red signal to the approaching Train no 17057 Devgiri express to stop, protected his own train and informed all concerned. A potential mishap was averted due to his alertness.

2. Rohit Kaushik, Locopilot, Panvel, was performing on duty on 09.10.2024 at Kalamboli yard. After the Kalamboli-Wadi load was released by the C&W team, Kaushik while the course of GDR, notice that the welding of the supporting bracket of piston rod and breaking mechanism was broken and dangling. Kaushik immediately informed the Assistant Yard Master, Kalamboli. The train departed after the fault was rectified and declared safe. A potential mishap was averted due to his alertness.

3. Mrutyunjay Kumar , Track Maintainer, Kalyan while on duty on 30.10.2024 on the Diva-Mumbra section, at kms 41/100-42/100, noticed a crack on the tonguerail on the Up main line. He immediately informed the Sr Section Engineer. A block was taken and the issue was resolved with a replacement. His alertness helped save a potential mishap.

4. Avdhesh Kumar , Track Maintainer, Karjat while on duty on 02.11.2024 on the Nagnath-Palasdhari section, at kms 105/800-900, in course of joint lubrication noticed a crack on the welding. He immediately informed all concerned. A block was taken and the issue was resolved with a replacement. His alertness helped save a potential mishap.

Bhusaval Division

5. Rahul Yeshwant Baviskar, Technician, C&W, Bhusaval on 01.11.2024, during maintenance work of Goods train, on minute observation, noticed crack in the CBC coupling of a wagon which was not easily seen. He immediately informed all concerned and a possible mishap was averted due to his keen observation.

6. Ritesh Sumangal Pali, Track Maintainer, Bhusaval on 01.11.2024, while performing duty as Keyman, noticed smoke coming out of Train no 12833 Ahamedabad-Howrah express which was passing by. He immediately informed all concerned. A check at the next station revealed the cause to be brake binding. A potential mishap was averted due to his alertness.

Pune Division

7. Vishwanath Gaikwad, Khalasi, Pune on 08.11.2024, during maintenance work of Train no 11077 Jhelum Express, on minute observation, noticed that the leaf spring of the gangway plate of a coach was missing. This could have led to a gap between coaches while in motion leading to potential accident. His alertness has helped save a serious mishap.

Nagpur Division

8. Venkataraman, Loco pilot, Tadali, Nagpur, while on shunting duty on 06.11.2024, noticed the track of checkrail in broken condition. He immediately protected the main track and informed all concerned, thus averting a potential mishap.

Solapur Division

9. Nitin Mohan Shinde, Track Maintainer, Latur, Solapur on 17.09.2024, while performing duty as Gateman, noticed a jammed brake block of a passing Goods train. He immediately informed the Station Master of Dhoki station, where the train was stopped and brake block was released.. A potential mishap was averted due to his alertness
