The long-awaited ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas finally came into force on Sunday. With this, the way has been cleared for the end of the war that has been going on between the two for the last 15 months. On Sunday, Hamas handed over three Israeli female hostages to the Red Cross in the first phase.
Before releasing the three, Hamas released the names of the three and said that Israel would also hand over to it a list of 90 Palestinian prisoners to be released on Sunday. Hamas will release four more Israeli hostages next week. Hamas launched attacks in southern Israel on October 7, 2023, killing 1,200. Hamas took more than 250 people hostage. So far 47 thousand Palestinians have been killed in Israel’s retaliatory attack.
