Yamunanagar, 07 July (Hindustan Times). The office bearers of the Haryanvi Gatka Association on Friday handed over a demand letter to School Education Minister Kanwar Pal Gurjar at his residence demanding the inclusion of Gatka game in the educational institutions of the state.
On this occasion, General Secretary of Haryanvi Gatka Association Sukhchain Singh said that Haryanvi Gatka Association is promoting Gatka game in the state and is affiliated to the National Gatka Association of India, the oldest National Gatka Sports Org.zation of the country and recognized by the Indian Sports Ministry. He said that apart from this our association has also got recognition from World Gatka Federation and Asia Gatka Federation.
He said that Haryana State Gatka teams participate in the National Tournament every year, but for the last seven years the players of Haryana University are not able to participate in the Inter-State University Tournament. He said that eight players from Haryana had won four medals in the fourth Khelo India Youth Games held in Panchkula in the year 2022. He said that Khalsa Gatka Academy approved by Sports Authority of India is running in Shahbad. Apart from this, free training is being given in different districts of the state through eight Gatka training centers given by the Haryana Sports Department to the Haryanvi Gatka Association.
He demanded that in view of the bright future of Gatka players, Gatka game should be started in the universities and colleges under it so that Gatka players can participate in the inter-state university Gatka competition and win more medals for Haryana.
