Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The gas victims have raised doubt on state government’s intention over compliance of High Court order regarding gaining public confidence and dispelling myths about UCC (Union carbide Corporation) waste incineration in Pithampur (Dhar district).
The principal bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court has given six weeks to state government to build confidence in public and dispel myths about UCC chemical waste incineration.
At present, gas relief commissioner Swatantra Kumar Singh is receiving training at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration on public policy and public administration in Mussoorie till January 31.
“Who will do the job of confidence building and myths dispelling in public regarding UCC chemical waste incineration when the main official (Swatantra Kumar Singh) is on leave (training) till January 31. In absence of competent authority in Bhopal gas tragedy relief and rehabilitation department, it is a big challenge to handle affairs.
HC has given time to state government till February 18,” Bhopal Gas Information and Action convener Rachna Dhingra said. Department deputy secretary KK Dubey said, “Swatantra Kumar Singh has gone for training to Mussoorie. For compliance of HC order, we will have meeting to chalk out strategy soon.”
