Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Six days after retail garment traders in Rajwada area stopped taking payments through UPI from customers, they again started taking UPI payments after assurance from DCP cyber crime that in case of cyber fraud their bank accounts would not be blocked.
Some cyber fraudsters had transferred money into the accounts of some local traders in Rajwada area and the RBI had blocked them when cyber fraud money trail led to their accounts.
In protest against this move, the traders around Rajwada decided that they would stop taking payments through UPI and only take either cash or credit cards.
The officials of banks and crime branch went to meet the officials of the association on Monday. After persuasion, traders agreed to restart accepting payment through UPI.
A discussion was held between crime branch additional DCP Rajesh Dandotia and association president Akshay Jain in the presence of bank officials. The traders asked what they should do if their accounts were blocked for cyber fraud that had taken place in some other state.
To this Dandotia assured that in such cases, they should contact the Indore Crime Branch and they would solve their problem. It was decided that the traders would give a memorandum of their problems to the Crime Branch officials on Tuesday.
