Ahmedabad: Train operations on the down line in the Geratpur-Vatva section of Ahmedabad Division were severely disrupted late Sunday night after a gantry collapsed at a National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) worksite, causing an Overhead Equipment (OHE) breakdown.
About The Incident
The incident occurred at 10:10 PM at Km 484/34, leading to the cancellation of nearly two dozen trains, including the Double Decker Express and Gujarat Express. Several other trains were affected, while some, such as 12833 Ahmedabad-Howrah Express and 19483 Ahmedabad-Barauni Express, were rescheduled.


Despite the disruption, there were no injuries to passengers or railway staff. Railway officials acted swiftly, initiating a single-line movement on the UP line at 12:56 AM to facilitate the clearance of down trains. The UP line remained unaffected.
Senior railway officers and technical teams were present at the site, overseeing restoration work that was in full swing to resume normal operations as soon as possible.
