According to the scriptures, on the seventh date of the Shukla Paksha of Vaishakh month, the holy Ganges descended on the earth. Therefore, Ganga Saptami Tithi is considered very important in Hinduism. On this day, bathing and meditation is done in the holy Ganges river. After this, worship and chanting of Maa Ganga is done. It is believed that by worshiping Maa Ganga on this day and reciting this special chalisa, a person gets freedom from all the sufferings of life.

According to the Vedic almanac, this time the seventh date of Ganga Saptami i.e. Vaishakh Maha Shukla Paksha will start at 7.51 am on May 3. This date will end at 7.18 am on 4 May the next day.
