Super over in T20 cricket has been used as a tiebreaker for 16 years. But something happened in the match between Bahrain and Hong Kong on Friday that has never happened in international cricket before.

Bahrain lost two wickets without scoring a single run in a super over against Hong Kong in Kuala Lumpur. In this Malaysia Tri -series match, Hong Kong won the toss and scored 129 runs for seven wickets while batting first. In response, Bahrain made an aggressive start and openers Fiaz Ahmed and Prashant Kurup scored 30 runs in four overs, although Hong Kong reduced the scoring speed by losing wickets at regular intervals. Bahrain lost five wickets for just 67 runs. Bahrain returned to the match under the leadership of captain Ahmar bin Nasir. The team needed 13 runs to win in the final over. Nasir made the score equal by hitting a six off Nasrullah Rana, but on the final ball of the match, the wicketkeeper caught him behind the stump, making the match on par. After this the match went to the super over, but Nasir could not even open his account in the super over. Hong Kong veteran spinner Ehsan Khan dismissed him and Sohail Ahmed on two consecutive balls. According to ICC rules, the team’s batting ends when two wickets fall in the super over. After this Hong Kong won the super over on the third ball. Babur Hayat scored a winning run for the team. This was the 33rd time in T20 international history when a match reached the super over. However, the interesting thing is that Bahrain has lost in the super over for the first time. Earlier, he has won the match in the super over twice.
