Naomi Osaka, who was playing in a tournament for the first time after the Australian Open in January, entered the second round of women’s singles of the Miami Open Tennis tournament after a tough struggle.
Born in Japan and settled in the US, Osaka made a victorious debut by defeating Yulia Starodubatseva 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 in a two-hour 28-minute match.
American Sophia Kenin carried forward her campaign by defeating Petra Quitova 6-4, 7-5, Laura Davis 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 and Elena Gabriella Rusev defeated her campaign by defeating Polyina Kudramtova 6–1, 6-7 (7-5), 6-2. In another women’s singles match, Taylor Townsend defeated her campaign by defeating N Lee 3-6, 6-4, 6-2 after losing the first set in the first round match between two American players, while Katrina Siniakova defeated her campaign by defeating Yui Yuan 2-6, 6-2, 6-7 (7-4) after reaching the third set tiebreaker.
