President Draupadi Murmu on the eve of the 76th Republic Day approved the conferment of gallantry awards to 93 armed forces and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) personnel, of which 11 will be honored posthumously. The list released by the Defense Ministry includes 2 Kirti Chakras and 14 Shaurya Chakras, which are the second and third highest gallantry awards given for extraordinary courage in peacetime.

Posthumous honoring of heroes:
Among the awards announced, 1 Kirti Chakra and 3 Shaurya Chakra will be given posthumously. Apart from this, 7 Sena Medals (Gallantry) will also be awarded posthumously.
This gallantry award is a salute to the indomitable courage, sacrifice and service to the nation of those brave men who sacrificed their lives for the security and sovereignty of India.
