According to reports, the Prime Minister of Guyana will present its highest national award “The Order of Excellence” to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. At the same time, Barbados will honor Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the prestigious honorary “Order of Freedom of Barbados”.

Why is it important to visit Guyana?

This is the first time in over 50 years that an Indian Prime Minister has visited Guyana. Let us tell you that there is a large population of Indian origin in Guyana. Their number is approximately 3,20,000. When PM Modi reached the airport, Guyana President Irfan Ali was standing with more than 12 of his cabinet ministers to welcome him. PM Modi will stay in Guyana till November 21 and will discuss with its President Mohammad Irfan Ali on giving strategic direction to the unique relationship between the two countries. Apart from this, PM Modi will also meet the leaders of Caribbean partner countries in the second India-CARICOM summit.
