8 March is globally venerated and celebrated as International Women’s Day. This day, over the years, has acquired a great deal of importance and relevance in highlighting the need for equity and equality. It also looks at the distance that is yet to be covered by the world, as far as an equal paradigm is concerned.

All-Women Branch

In a move that can be seen as a path towards empowerment and bringing voices to the mainstream and to the public sphere, Mumbai-based insurance company Future Generali India Insurance recently inaugurated a first-of-its-kind branch.

This new branch of the insurance company is an All-Women branch ‘Shakti’. The branch is located in Kerala’s commercial hub of Kochi.

The branch is located on the 5th floor of Pulikkal Estate, M.G. Road, Kochi. This new initiative was inaugurated by Anup Rau, MD & CEO of Future Generali India Insurance.

A Milestone

Shakti is being seen as a milestone achievement for the company. While presence of women in the workforce has seen a steady rise, the larger philosophical barrier, which prevents women from being in public sphere, in a more ‘visible’ form, is yet to be breached.

Visibility here is about those professions which require professionals to be a physical space, visible, to carry out their trade.

The dedicated all-women 'Shakti' sales team will provide expert insurance solutions while paving the way for greater representation.

“The inauguration of the all-women’s branch reinforces our commitment to building an inclusive future, where every individual has the opportunity to thrive. As part of our ongoing efforts, we will continue to create more opportunities for women employees to showcase their sales and leadership skills,” Rau said.

More In Store

The branch currently has a team of 12 women. The insurance company said that it plans to onboard even more in the coming months.
