Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): A two-year-old child was severely attacked by a pack of stray dogs while playing outside his home in Gwalior’s Murar area. The aggressive canines tore off the child’s cheek, leaving deep wounds on his face, arms, and legs.
The incident occurred when two stray dogs, fighting among themselves, turned on the child on Tuesday. They mauled the little one, leaving him bloodied and helpless.
Hearing the child’s cries, nearby residents rushed to the spot and used sticks and stones to chase away the dogs. However, the dogs also attempted to attack those who tried to intervene. The victim’s father rushed him to Jayarogya Hospital, where the child was administered anti-rabies injections.
According to information, the victim child has been identified as two-year-old Baadal. According to sources, the incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon when Baadal was playing outside his house in Gwalior’s Murar area. Nearby, two dogs were going head to head against each other. Baadal, being a child, tried to intervene in the fight. In return, the dogs started attacking the child. The dogs, forgetting their own fight, mauled the child, bit his face, and left him bloodied on the road.
Hearing the cries of the little child, local residents and the family came out of the house. The residents tried to intervene and stop the dogs with stones and sticks. However, the dogs started attacking the residents. Finally, the residents managed to shoo away the dogs. Baadal’s father took him to the Jayarogya Hospital, where his treatment is underway.
Over 150 cases of dog bites reported in one day
The city continues to face a surge in dog bite cases. On Tuesday alone, 169 cases were reported at both Jayarogya and district hospitals. Among them, 84 were registered at Jayarogya Hospital and 85 at Muraar District Hospital. Stray dogs are especially targeting children and elderly people, making them the most vulnerable.
