2024 was a year of world records for Madhya Pradesh. The state touched new highs especially in the cultural arena.
1. The first to enter Guinness Book of World Records was Kathak Kumbh organised to celebrate golden jubilee of Khajuraho Dance Festival on February 20, 2024. As many as 1484 artistes danced their way to make history.
2. Over 1500 players created a world record by playing the damru rhythmically on Shaktipath of Mahakalok in Ujjain on August 5.
3. Two records were set in December. The record for largest simultaneous Hindu text recital was set on Lal Parade Ground in Bhopal as 3,740 people recited 43 verses from Srimad Bhagavad Gita on December 11. In all, 7,000 people took part.
4. On December 15, Guinnees World record for largest Hindustani classical band was set at 100th International Tansen Samaroh in Gwalior where 546 artistes played nine musical instruments together for nine minutes with three ragas composed by Tansen.
5. One of the biggest box office successes of 2024, Stree 2, was shot mostly in Chanderi in Ashoknagar district of MP.
6. Three persons from creative fields received Padma Shri. Artiste Omprakash Sharma from Ujjain, writer Bhagwatilal Rajpurohit from Ujjain and Malwi Kabir singer Kaluram Bamaniya from Dewas.
Chief minister Mohan Yadav attended record-making cultural events and accepted certificates.
