David Schwimmer makes bold statement about the Israel-Hamas war

On October 12, 5 days after Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel, David Schwimmer took to his Instagram account to make a strong statement condemning the attack. He wrote, “Saturday was the largest mass murder of Jews in a single day since the Holocaust,” he wrote. “Any attempt to rationalize or justify this genocide, let alone celebrate it, is indefensible and anti-Semitic”. He continued, “The rap, the torture, kidnapping and killing of so many Israeli civilians- including children, the elderly and infants – is an atrocity”

The actor clarified his stance and noted that it is as important to condemn Hamas as it is to object to the Israeli government’s policies regarding the occupation. He asserted, “Hamas is a terrorist org.sation whose stated mission is the extermination of Jews. One can condemn Hamas and still hold the Israeli government’s policies regarding the occupation (as many Israelis do), still believe in the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination, and still mourn the loss of Palestinian civilians and the current destruction of their homes, schools, hospitals and places of worship.” He concluded the post by writing, “I grieve for all the innocent lives lost, their partners, families and friends, and pray for those who are still missing”
