Bhopal/Khandwa (Madhya Pradesh): A 50-year-old French national, who was on a pilgrimage in India, passed away recently in Omkareshwar, Madhya Pradesh. Following his demise, the district administration reached out to the French Embassy to inform his family about the unfortunate incident.
Surprisingly, the man’s family expressed their wish for his last rites to be performed according to Hindu traditions. Respecting their request, a social organisation in Khandwa took the responsibility of conducting his cremation with full Hindu rituals. The ceremony was carried out with all the traditional rites, ensuring that the deceased was given a respectful farewell in accordance with the Indian customs.
According to information, the 50-year-old has been identified as Stéphane Alexander, a resident of Nice, France. According to sources, Alexander came to India to visit the revered Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga. During his trip, he passed away due to a medical condition. Following his demise, the district administration informed the French Embassy, which then contacted his family. Alexander’s family unexpectedly expressed their desire for Hindu traditions to perform his last rites.
