Katni (Madhya Pradesh): A freight train carrying cement from Satna derailed near Katni Railway Station on Monday afternoon, with four wagons going off the tracks. As soon as the incident was reported, railway staff rushed to the site and began restoration work on a war footing.

Due to the derailment, some local trains have been impacted, but long-distance trains, including those heading towards Kumbh Prayagraj, remain unaffected. Officials are closely monitoring the situation and gathering information about affected train schedules.

According to Harshit Srivastava, CPRO of West Central Railway, the derailment occurred between Katni Station and Katni Murwara Station, potentially affecting train movements in the area. He stated that around 300 railway employees are currently engaged in repair work, and the damage is expected to be fixed within two to three hours.

Authorities have also assured that a detailed investigation will be conducted to determine the cause of the derailment. Senior railway officials are present at the site, overseeing the restoration and ensuring minimal disruption to train services.
