Bhopal: Four Held For Stabbing, Injuring Journalist, Rice Miller Paid ₹30,000 To Goons For The Attack | Representative Image

Balaghat (Madhya Pradesh): The police on Monday arrested four criminals for stabbing and injuring a journalist Milind Thakre on April 7. Five criminals attacked him, but the police laid their hands on four of them, and one is still on the lam.

Superintendent of police Nagendra Singh told journalists that a man identified as Vishal Gangwani, a rice miller, had given Rs 30,000 to the criminals to attack Thakre.

Because Gangwani was fed up with the complaints made by Thakre about the irregularities in his rice mill, he wanted to teach him a lesson, Singh said.

A team, set up by the police to arrest the criminals, sifted through over 300 CCTV footages.

The police also seized the knife and the motorcycle used for committing crime from the possession of the criminals.

Singh also declared a reward of Rs 5,000 on the attackers.  When the police were sifting through the CCTV footages, they came across two unidentified masked bikers doing Reiki on the house of Thakre. During the inquiry the police identified them as Vikas and Suraj.

When the arrested criminals were quizzed, they said two of their accomplices Nitesh Yadav ans Sani Yadav had been given Rs 30,000 for attacking and threatening Thakre.

The police also took into custody the rice miller Gangwani who was running Maa Kamla Devi Rice Mill.Thakre complained to the collector about the irregularities and an inquiry against Gangwani was underway.

Because of Thakre’s complaint about irregularities, Ganawani’s business was suffering a loss. On April 7, an accused Sani Yadav, nephew of Nitesh Yadav, was doing Reiki on Thakre’s house.

The arrested criminals were identified as Gangwani, Nitesh Yadav, Suresh Yadav, Sani Yadav and Suraj. Vikas is on the lam.
