Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Eid celebrations turned into mourning as four friends on a motorcycle were killed after their bike collided head on with a truck in Rewa district on Monday afternoon, police said. The four friends after offering namaz were heading to another village to attend Eid festival programme when the accident took place.
SDOP Yatnesh Tripathi said that the accident took place at Chouriyar turn under Gurh police station limits, around five kilometres from the district headquarters.
Afrid (20), Shadab (20), Jumman (18) and Satyam Saket (14), who were on the motorcycle, died and their bodies have been sent for post mortem, he said.
Mohammed Rasheed, a kin of the one of the deceased, said after offering Eid prayers the four friends had gone to Mohania Tunnel where the accident took place. People in the vicinity alerted police, who rushed to the site and took the four to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital where doctors declared them dead on arrival, the police said.
50-year-old woman kills self due to domestic dispute
A 50-year-old woman, identified as Lata Rajput, committed suicide on Sunday night following heated arguments with her husband. The incident occurred at their residence, Kolar police said here on Monday.
Lata’s husband was under the influence of alcohol
According to police, the argument began when Lata’s husband, a labourer, got home from work under the influence of alcohol. The couple was originally from the Chhola Mandir and lived in Kolar.
After heated arguments, her husband left the house. When he returned, he found Lata hanging.
Lata Rajput was a mother of four who worked part-time to support her family’s income. Both her daughters are married.
Police sent the body to hospital, where doctors declared her dead, after this the post-mortem was conducted. The police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident.
Three held for throwing crackers from moving car
Govindpura police on Monday arrested three youths for throwing and bursting crackers on the street from their moving car on March 27. According to the police, a video of the incident had gone viral on social media and thereafter they were identified.
Accused Rajat Mishrodi, Sumit and Chandra Sekhar Verma were throwing burning crackers from the window of their moving car and also filmed it to post it on social media.
Police station in-charge Awadhesh Singh told Free Press that a complaint was received from the locals about the youths throwing live crackers near Chetak Bridge, ISBT and Bhartiniketan areas. The youths have been booked under Motor Vehicle Act.
