Former prime minister Manmohan Singh passed away at the age of 92 in Delhi on Thursday.
Robert Vadra, husband of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi, in an Instagram post, said, “I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Fmr Prime Minister Manmohan Singh ji…”
“My deepest condolences for his family and loved ones. Thank you for your service to our Nation. You will always be remembered for your Economic revolution and progressive changes, you brought to the country,” Vadra added further.
Singh’s demise was also reported by News24 in a post on X.
This came after Singh was admitted to AIIMS Delhi on Thursday evening as his health deteriorated. The former PM was admitted to the emergency department of the hospital, reports suggested.
However, at the time of filing this report, AIIMS Delhi neither officially confirmed Singh’s demise nor issued any update about his health.
Meanwhile, Priyanka Gandhi was seen entering AIIMS Delhi as per visuals posted on X by news agency ANI .
Singh served as India’s prime minister during the UPA 1 and 2 government from 2004 to 2014.
In the central government led by PV Narasimha Rao from 1991 to 1996, Manmohan Singh rose to fame as the nation’s finance minister by implementing extensive reforms that revolutionised the economy.
He was a member of the Rajya Sabha till the beginning of this year.
