Former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi has been made the Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly. Today, his name was approved in the Legislature Party meeting at the Aam Aadmi Party office on Sunday. At the meeting, all the MLAs will represent the Assembly House as the Leader of the Opposition.
Atishi will now play the role of the Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Legislative Assembly. He is an MLA from Kalka constituency. He will take over as Chief Minister after the resignation of former Aam Aadmi Party president Arvind Kejriwal. Chief Minister Atishi’s stature in the party has increased due to his work.

Veteran party leaders like Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and Saurabh Bhardwaj suffered a crushing defeat in the assembly elections. But Atishi won the party by winning the Kalka seat. She has emerged as a strong female leader within the party. Due to which Atishi’s name was proposed as the Leader of the Opposition.
Women opposition against women Chief Minister
After the BJP’s heavy victory in Delhi, it has handed over the post of Chief Minister to Rekha Gupta. The Aam Aadmi Party has chosen a female opposition face against a female Chief Minister. CM Rekha Gupta was elected from Shalimar Bagh seat. Rekha Gupta is known for her aggressive style. Therefore, Atishi has been made the Leader of the Opposition as a strong contender against him.
