Real Madrid led star midfielder Luka Modric to reach the Copa del Rey pre-quarterfinals with a 5-0 thrashing of Deportiva Minera. Spain’s football giants’ five-star victory was inspired by first-half goals from Frederico Valverde, Eduardo Camivinga and Arda Guler.

The fourth goal came in the second half of the match when Modric scored and then Guler sealed the match. Madrid released their star strikers Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior to play the second half of the match. Team manager Carlo Ancelotti has rested these star players in view of the Spanish Super Cup starting in Saudi Arabia this week. Real Madrid set the pace early in the match when Valverde hit a volley at the far post, before Camavinga’s header took the lead after 13 minutes. Andrić almost scored the third goal but could not do so.
