Bournemouth caused a major upset in English Premier League football by defeating defending champions Manchester City 2-1. Bournemouth’s first win against City in any tournament. Earlier, Bournemouth had played 21 matches against City and lost 19 of them and managed to draw only two matches.

Liverpool beat Brighton 2–1 and Newcastle beat Arsenal 1–0.
