Barcelona won the Spanish Super Cup football title for the 15th time by defeating current champion Real Madrid 5-2 in the El Clasico match. In the ninth minute of the match, Kylian Mbappé gave Real Madrid a 1-0 lead by scoring a goal.

 

Lamil Yamal scored a brilliant goal in the 22nd minute to level Barcelona’s score at 1-1. After Real Madrid’s mistake, Barcelona got a penalty in the 35th minute and in the 36th minute Roberto Lewandowski scored to give the team a 2-1 lead. Rafina scored another goal in the 38th minute to put Barcelona ahead 3-1. Alejandro Balde scored another goal in extra time (45 plus 10 minutes) before half time to give Barcelona a 4–1 lead. Real Madrid was pushed towards defeat in the first half itself. Wojciech Szczesny’s goal in the second half increased Madrid’s problems and the score became 1-5. In the 60th minute, Rodrigo scored another goal for Madrid to make the score 2-5 but defeat was certain.

Barcelona tops the Spanish Super Cup title standings. They have also been runners-up 12 times and jointly top the list for most number of finals reached by teams (27 times). Madrid has played in the final 20 times in the tournament’s history and lost seven times.
