Gwalior, 28 November (HS). All the candidates contesting from Ward-39 of Gwalior Municipal Corporation should completely follow the code of conduct. There should not be any activity in the election campaign which may create obstacles in conducting the elections in a free, fair, uninterrupted and peaceful manner. Also, take prior permission for vehicles, processions, meetings, loud speakers etc.

Collector and District Election Officer Ruchika Chauhan said this to the representatives of recognized political parties and candidates present in the Standing Committee meeting on Thursday. He said that a total of three candidates are left in the election fray in Ward-39. The by-election of Ward-39 will be held through EVM. On Thursday, under the guidelines of the State Election Commission, the FLC of the EVM was also done by the Collector in the room of the District Election Officer established in Room No. 223 in the Collectorate.

In the meeting, the Collector told the candidates and their agents that they must be present during EVM randomization, commissioning, transportation, EVM distribution and receipt, mock poll and opening and closing of the strong room. Mobile phones are completely banned within 100 meters of the polling station. Therefore, candidates and their agents should clearly advise their workers for this.

It was informed in the meeting that the maximum limit of election expenditure in the by-election for the post of councilor has been fixed at Rs 8.75 lakh. Every candidate will have to give detailed account of election expenditure from time to time to the Nodal Officer of Election Expenditure Accounts, Joint Director of Funds and Accounts. Collector Ruchika Chauhan said that to conduct the by-elections in a free, fair and peaceful manner, a district level control room has been set up in Motimahal, which will remain open 24 hours. Deputy District Election Officer Sanjeev Jain, Assistant Returning Officer Ashok Chauhan and Master Trainer SB Ojha along with other concerned officers and representatives of recognized political parties and candidates were present in the meeting.

Voting will take place on 9th December and counting will take place on 12th December.

It was informed in the meeting that as per the schedule prescribed by the State Election Commission, voting will be held for the by-election in Ward-39 of Gwalior Municipal Corporation on Monday, December 9 from 7 am to 5 pm. A total of 15 polling stations have been set up in Ward-39. This voting will be based on the final voter list of Municipal Corporation Gwalior prepared in the year 2023. The counting of votes will be done on Thursday 12th December at MLB College.

Three candidates are in the fray in Ward-39

Three candidates will try their luck in the by-election of Ward-39 of Gwalior Municipal Corporation. A total of five candidates had filed nomination papers till the date fixed for nomination. Of these, two candidates (Geeta Jatav and Mamta Bai) have withdrawn their names. After the time for withdrawal of nominations was over, election symbols were allotted to the three candidates remaining in the fray by Collector and Returning Officer Ruchika Chauhan.

The time for withdrawal of nominations was fixed by the State Election Commission till 3 pm on Thursday. The candidates remaining in the fray in the by-election of Ward-39 include Anjali Raju Palaiya with Bharatiya Janata Party election symbol Lotus, Shiv. Akash Khatik Indian National Congress election symbol Hand and Jyoti Rajendra independent election symbol Hockey and Ball.

The buildings of these polling stations were changed

Polling station no. 725 in Ward-39 has now been built in the community hall Saat Bhai Ki Goth. This polling center was earlier established in Room No. 1 of Suvinayak (Opposite Mangal Office Laxmiganj Road, Dr. Kamal Kishore). Similarly, polling station no. 727 has now been made in the Anganwadi center located at Yogesh Park AB Road in place of Madhav Bal Niketan. Polling Station No. 728 in place of Shagun Palace Room No. 2 in Ramdwara Trust Janchakhana Road Laxmiganj Room No. 2 and in place of Polling Station No. 729 Shagun Palace Room No. 1 in Ramdwara Trust Janchakhana Road Laxmiganj Municipal Corporation workshop situated at Dholi Bua bridge in room no. 1 and polling station no. 735 in place of Madhav Bal Niketan. Has been installed in room no.-5.

Permission will be given to build booths at a distance of more than 100 meters from the polling station.

On polling day, candidates will be able to set up their booth at a distance of 100 meters from the polling station. But permission will have to be taken from the local authority. Two chairs and one table will be allowed at the booth. It will be allowed to put a banner of 2X3 feet size at the booth. If there is more than one polling booth at the same place, the candidate will be allowed to set up one voter assistant booth.
