New Delhi, 3 December (Hindustan Reporter). Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai on Tuesday said that five Indian soldiers have been martyred on the India-Pakistan border in the last three years.
In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai, while sharing details of Indian soldiers killed in terrorist attacks on the India-Pakistan border in the last three years, said that four soldiers were martyred on the Line of Control (LOC) in the year 2021. , while in 2022 one soldier lost his life.
He said that the government has adopted a policy of zero tolerance against terrorism including along the India-Pakistan border and the government’s vision is to destroy the terrorist ecosystem. He said the government has taken several steps which have resulted in controlling terrorist activities on the border. He said these measures include close and effective coordination between intelligence and security agencies at the Central and State levels on all matters related to terrorism. Further strengthening the Multi Agency Center (MAC) and organizing it to function on 24×7 basis for collecting and sharing real time intelligence on all matters related to terrorism with other intelligence agencies and States, and ensuring seamless flow of information between state and central agencies.
He said that special forces were formed by the states and union territories to deal with terrorist incidents. Central Armed Police Forces and National Security Guards have also been deployed at various places to assist the states in dealing with such incidents.
The minister said that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has been set up to investigate terrorism related cases. Central agencies have conducted capacity building programs for state forces with respect to intelligence sharing and investigation of terrorist cases. A multi-pronged approach is being adopted by the Border Security Forces to prevent terrorist infiltration through round-the-clock border surveillance, regular patrolling, anti-mine drills, setting up of checkpoints and deployment of personnel at observation posts along the International Border.
He said that physical infrastructure in the form of border fence has been constructed and maintained along the international border and flood lights have been installed along the border to illuminate the area during darkness. Weak border posts are regularly reviewed and strengthened by deployment of additional manpower, special surveillance equipment and other force multipliers. A technical solution in the form of a comprehensive integrated border management system has been implemented in vulnerable border areas. Border security forces have been advised to maintain strict vigil and vigil and take all possible steps to prevent infiltration.
