Five Miscreants From Two Money Extortion Gangs, Arrested In Indore Including ‘Thak Thak Gang’ | FP Photo
Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Five members of two gangs who used to extort money by falsely claiming that the victim’s vehicle had hit a person injuring him critically, or that the victim had molested a woman, have been arrested by police. The accused have allegedly confessed to extorting money from more than half a dozen people.
DCP (zone-1) Vinod Kumar Meena informed they had received complaints that the gang, also known as ‘Thak Thak Gang’, was extorting money from people between Musakhedi Square and Teen Imli Bridge for the past few days. After receiving two complaints, a team from Azad Nagar police station was formed.
The team in civil dress was deployed at the mentioned place. After receiving information that some youths had been spotted on the service lane and were planning to extort money from people, the team arrested Arshad Khan and Salman Khan, residents of Khajrana from the first gang. They informed the police that their aides Aadil and Yasir were also involved in the crime on Bypass Road. A search is on for them.
Based on information given by the arrested accused, police arrested three other accused Shahrukh Khan of Sumati Nagar, Avesh Khan of Palda area and Sahil Sheikh of Azad Nagar. They allegedly confessed to duping two people on Ring Road under Azad Nagar police station limits. Police said when they tried to arrest the accused, they tried to flee and got injured. Three bikes were recovered from them. One Ashok Chouhan, who runs a MP Online Kiosk is on the run in connection with the crime.
Gathering info about another gang
Information about another gang committing similar crimes on the Bypass Road under Khajrana and Kanadiya police station limits is being gathered from the concerned police station to know about complaints.
Two complaints so far
In one complaint, a student was targeted by the accused by alleging that he had molested a woman, and in another complaint, the accused extorted money from a person saying that he injured a person critically. They also took money online with the help of their accomplice Ashok Yadav, who runs a kiosk to receive money online and to provide cash to the accused. Yadav, who is absconding, used to get a commission from the accused.
Modus operandi
The accused used to stop vehicles and accuse the driver of injuring their relative critically. Then the accused demanded money on the pretext of treating the injured. If the driver refused to give money, other members of the gang, who would be waiting nearby, would come and threaten to implicate the driver in a false case.
