Today, on 29 March 2025, the first solar eclipse of this year (Surya Grahan) has been installed. This is a partial solar eclipse, which means that the Moon will not be able to cover the Sun completely. Scientifically solar eclipse is an important astronomical phenomenon, which occurs when the moon comes between the Sun and the Earth and blocks the sunlight partially or completely.
The solar eclipse always occurs about two weeks before or after lunar eclipse. However, this time the solar eclipse will not be visible in India, because its path is not passing through India.
Solar eclipse 2025 time (Surya Grahan Timing 2025)
Eclipse starts: 2:20:43 pm
Eclipse Extreme Status: 4:17:27 pm
Eclipse finished: 6:13:45 pm
Period: Total 3 hours 53 minutes
This solar eclipse can be seen in Europe, Asia (North Region), North-West Africa, Most parts of North America, South America (North Part), Atlantic and Arctic regions.
When will the solar eclipse appear in India?
According to scientists at the Aryabhata Observation Science Research Institute (Aries), the next solar eclipse in India will appear as a complete solar eclipse on 2 August 2027.
Visible full solar eclipse in India:
Full solar eclipse will be seen in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and parts of Karnataka.
Partial solar eclipse can be seen in other states.
After this, another solar eclipse will take place on 21 September 2025, but that too will not be visible in India.
Scientific importance of solar eclipse
The solar eclipse helps understand the speed and gravity effects of astronomical bodies.
Scientists study the corona of the Sun during this time.
There is also a difference in temperature due to lack of natural light during eclipse.
It provides a unique opportunity for space research.
