Kurukshetra: A firing incident was reported during a Mahayagya (religious event) in Haryana’s Kurukshetra on Saturday morning. The religious event The Mahayajna is being organised at Keshav Park in Kurukshetra by Shri Shri 1008 Swami Hari Om of Tripura Shaktipeeth, Manikut. A minor boy sustained a bullet injury.
The chaos erupted at the vent when a security guard opened fire during an altercation over the quality of food being served, officials said as reported by PTI. After the incident, a large number of Brahmins who came to perform rituals at the yajna blocked the Kurukshetra-Pehowa road. Notably, a large number of Brahmins had arrived to perform rituals at the days-long event.

As per the police, some of the Brahmins complained of the poor quality of food being served to them, which led to an altercation between them and Swami Hari Om. Brahmins alleged that Hari Om’s security guard fired at them.
Brahmins Blocked Kurukshetra-Pehowa Road:
Brahmin then tore the posters of the event and allegedly resorted to stone-pelting, the police said as reported by PTI. The injured boy has been identified as 16-year-old Ashish Kumar from Lucknow. He was taken to a hospital and he is reported to be out of danger. As per the SP, another person was injured during the stone-pelting.
Meanwhile, Swami Hari Om alleged that some “unscrupulous” elements tried to disturb the ‘1008 Kund Yajna’. As per Hari Om, 700 to 800 Brahmins are still continuing to perform the ritual.
No FIR has been registered in the matter so far.
